biography
Dr. Edoardo Marcora has a strong academic and industry background in experimental and computational biology, neuroscience, human genetics, functional genomics, software development, and drug discovery. Throughout his graduate training at the University of Colorado at Boulder and his post-doctoral training at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), he has investigated the role of transcription factors in neurodegeneration using various experimental and computational approaches. While on sabbatical at the European Bioinformatics Institute, he co-developed BioMart, a computational tool for genomic data integration and mining. As a Principal Investigator in the Department of Neuroscience Discovery at Amgen, he led and supported cross-functional teams identifying and validating drug targets for Alzheimer's disease using human genetics, systems biology, and experimental biology approaches. Throughout his career, Edoardo has pioneered the use of systems genetics and integrative genomics coupled with targeted genome editing and high-content screening for the identification and validation of novel genetic risk factors and drug targets for Alzheimer’s disease.
- Professor of Genetics, Genomic Sciences, and Neuroscience, Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine; member of the Icahn Genomics Institute.
- Former Principal Scientist at Amgen.
- 30+ peer-reviewed publications and patents on the genetics and network biology of neurodegeneration.
